Introduction

Hello! My name is Shalom, and I want to welcome you to my Digital Portfolio. I am a passionate graphic designer and photographer. Stepping outside of my comfort zone and saying yes to the unique opportunities that appear, I’ve had amazing oportunities all around the world that a small town girl could have never imagined was possible!

Education

I believe that education is the cornerstone of personal development and growth, and that there is always an opportunity to learn something new! I value continued learning when it comes to acquiring new skills, and fine tuning acquired knowledge. In 2017, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Art from Saint Joseph’s College. During my academic years, I was encouraged to open my worldview, which allowed for innovative problem-solving and growth in communication skills.

Professional Journey

From across the Country to across the Sea, I’ve gained experience in a variety of jobs, which has added up to 7 years in Photography, 6 years in Graphic Design, and 6 years in leadership. This included a combination of team collaboration and independent projects and management.

During college and upon completing my degree, I spent time working with 2 different Fortune 500 companies - The Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL and Parker Hannifin in Lakeview, MI. I also spent time doing Communications, Marketing, and Graphic Design Internships with Saint Joseph’s College and Faith Catholic Magazine. In addition to being able to incorporate photography skills into many different job positions, I also spent time working as a photographer not only for Disney, but for my own clients as well.

Achievements

I am forever humbled by the success of my hard work and accomplishments, the most notable being selected for the Opening Team for the Disney’s newest ship build, the Disney Wish. At Parker Hannifin, over the course of 8 years, I was able to work in all levels of the company, which allowed for a new appreciation for understanding all aspects and jobs in a company. This was insightful to gain a diverse perspective that is important for all leaders.

Personal Interests

Outside of my professional life, I try to maintain a healthy balance by pursuing interests and hobbies. I love being outside and exploring nature. Engaging in activities such as traveling and hiking allows me to immerse myself in the amazing planet we live in and put life into a new perspective. I also find that I can connect to my faith more when I’m able to appreciate the beauty that God has created for us. If I’m not outside, you can probably find me working on craft projects, watching a Hallmark movie, or visiting with friends or family.
